Marketing Manchester

Marketing Manchester is The Tourist Board for Greater Manchester, responsible for representing the local tourism Industry and charged with promoting Greater Manchester on a national and international scale.

Its aim is to develop Greater Manchester into a leading leisure and business tourism destination for domestic and international visitors, enhance the national and international visitors, enhance the national and international reputation of the city region and promote sustainable economic development and growth.

Established in 1996 as a public-private sector partnership, Marketing Manchester is a company limited by guarantee and is principally funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency, Manchester Airport Plc, the ten Greater Manchester Local Authorities and the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority. Marketing Manchester also generates income from hundreds of individual businesses within the private sector: all profits are ploughed back in to promoting Greater Manchester. home page >>

Association of Greater Manchester Authorities

AGMA

The AGMA Tourism Forum is open to tourism officers of all ten local authorities of Greater Manchester, Marketing Manchester and other organisations and agencies working in tourism in the Manchester sub-region. Its aim is to maximise the opportunities for tourism development and economic benefit from the industry across Greater Manchester by sharing information and research, co-ordination of programmes and publications.

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) was set up in April 2004. It supports tourism businesses in the Lancashire and Blackpool area by representing their interests regionally and nationally, by co-ordinating marketing activity, managing and developing the tourism product and working in partnership with industry. Activities in commercial membership, business support, 'Welcome to Excellence' training, visitors' services and marketing activity are all designed to improve quality and achieve common goals.


As a sub region in the North West, the area attracts 60.5 million visitors a year who contribute 2.5 billion to the local economy and help support 51,000 jobs.

Visit Chester & Cheshire (VCC) is the tourism management organisation for Chester and Cheshire. As one of five tourism boards in the Northwest it is funded and supported by North West Regional Development Agency, 6 local authorities and 250 private sector tourism stakeholders in Cheshire.

Set up in April 2004 it has a clear mission:
"We will build our tourism industry to generate economic return for all, through our vision, passion, positive action and effective partnership working."

Cheshire's tourism economy is worth approximately £800 million and supports c 15,000 jobs. Our goal and vision for 2015 is to double the value of the tourism economy.

24 Hour Museum

The 24 Hour Museum www.24hourmuseum.org.uk is an independent charity, funded by the Department of Culture Media and Sport, which aims to inspire people to explore the UK’s museums and galleries, both online and in the ‘real’ world. The site offers a unique mix of dynamic content including; daily arts news, exhibition reviews and in-depth online trails, as well as housing a comprehensive, fully searchable, database of over 3,000 cultural institutions. The site includes information on; listings, events, location details and facitilities. There is also have a dedicated children’s site - www.show.me.uk.

ERIH is the European Route of Industrial Heritage, a network of the most important industrial heritage sites in Europe. It is the common link between them all. From disused production plants to industrial landscape parks and inter-active technology museums. The backbone of the route consists of the so-called anchor points: the outstanding industrial monuments in the former heartlands of the Industrial Revolution, Great Britain, Netherlands and Germany.
